Down south in the carribbean, the experience is a little different. Here I am visiting my friend Faramarz in the Cayman Islands and exploring the not-so-deep blue.
Some snorkelers teasing a moray eel with food to get him out of his hiding place.
It took a lot of convincing (and food for that matter), but he eventually came out to see us.
Cayman Islands is home of the stingray with its Stingray City tour where you can dive or snorkel among groups of domesticated stingray.
With a mere depth of 4-5 feet, the sandbanks feeding spot offers tons of stingrays to look at and interact with.
This is a box fish (distant cousin to the puffer fish) and just as adorable. He's around for leftovers, basically whatever the stingrays miss. Unfortunately for him, pickings are slim.
