I love all the colours of coral and plants even in the temperate waters on the shores right off Sydney. This sea weed for instance is bright green and has a beautiful yellow outline glow.
This bright mauve soft coral stands out beautifully amongst a crowd of reds, whites and greens.
Whereas some other corals are more interesting for their textures and patterns rather than for their colours.
This coral sponge also has a unique texture and design.
These corals almost look like a hybrid between a plant and a mushroom, but not quite either. They gently sway back and forth hypnotically with the surge like an upside down pendulum.
The iridescent greenish blue colour on this coral caught my eye immediately. Wow! And the shape and texture on this coral made me laugh since it reminded me of an ear.
This sea star looked like it bumped into a designer or a fashion runway. Fancy !
Underwater slugs (nudibranchs) are always one of my favourite finds when I dive, with their bright outlines, colours and interesting ornamentation.
The iridescent colours on the "hairs" on this nudibranch seem to glow almost unnaturally, but such is the underwater world. Almost all the colours seem nuclear bright !
This is a Port Jackson shark. Though a shark, it is mostly harmless, unless you corner it in a cave.
Slightly more harmful is the moray eel. This one looks like he is smiling, but I don't think he is too happy to see me. Moray eels open and close their mouths as they breathe, seeming quite menacing to a diver who would be new to them. Still, it is wise not to get too close to them since they have a powerful bite !
This jellyfish barely missed me as I made my descent into the water. Its multicoloured lights flickering on and off made for quite the show and I watched it fascinated but at a distance to prevent from getting stung!
I caught this fish by surprise. Looks like he's got a guilty look about something. I wonder what he was up to?
Here I am doing more than "OK" on my 100th dive... a very happy diver!
