My Virtual Cookbook - Foodie Newsletters

Inaugural Edition of my Foodie Newsletter (Jan 2014)

Hi Everyone...

Well, I had a very productive holiday this Christmas, busily typing up all my favourite recipes that I've tested and tasted from the last 6 mths.

And I'm not going to keep them all to myself. No!  They're just too good not to share them !!!

Now, while I'd like to send them all to you (I only put the ones I actually liked on my website, which ended up being 35 new recipes, wowza!), I'll go easy on you guys by giving you a top selection.

Korean Fever

  • Korean Bulgogi BBQ Beef -  Deliciously marinated beef with a touch of sesame flavour.  Very easy to make and find the ingredients !
  • Korean JapChae (Beef & glass noodle stirfry) - If you're looking to add a little adventure in your meal range, this is a great treat for you... though the trickiest part is finding the Korean glass or thick tapioca noodles.  But your efforts will be well rewarded for this delicious all in one noodle stirfry feast.
  • Korean Spicy Chicken Stirfry with Rice Cakes (Dokbogi) - This is an epic recipe.  Very different flavour from what you may have had before as it uses plenty of the uniquely-flavoured korean chili paste.  And you'll need to do a little digging at your asian supermarket as well to get the odd shaped korean rice cakes and the chilli paste.  For the adventurous foodie, this will take you on a very new flavourful ride.

Other Recent Favourites
  • Traditional Roast Leg of Lamb with Olive Sauce - Easy to make, delicious sauce with a wonderful strong olive impression !
  • Indian Saag Paneer (Spinach w Indian Paneer Cheese) - Great moorish vegetarian dish, especially if you, like me, can't get enough of spinach and cheese.
  • Japanese Terriyaki Beef - I know I've already added a ton of Asian dishes but I just can't pass up offering a simple terriyaki beef recipe.
  • Chicken and Dumplings Soup - If you're feeling low from a cold or just a bad hair day, this easy soup is guaranteed to make your soul (and belly) smile !
  • Thai-Style Tomato Soup - This is a great one to raise your guests eyebrows at dinner... in a good way!  Adding very unique ingredients to a traditional tomato soup, sends your tastebuds all the way to Asia and back.  A confession... I made this about a year ago, but it was so good, I had to include it !

Great Beginnings
The Grand Finale
  • Berries in Champagne Jelly - Looking for something supremely easy to make but still supremely impressive? Then look no further.  This is guaranteed to cool you down on a hot day in a highly chic manner.
  • Glazed Ricotta Cheese with Figs and Port - Yep, seems this month's theme is chic when it comes to desserts, so here's another one to add to the line-up (Psst, good thing is it's easy too!!).  This is in fact the opposite of the jelly recipe above.  Rather than refreshing, this is the ultimate comfort treat and is best served very warm on a cool evening.
  • Passionfruit Mascarpone Cheesecake - Is it possible to have a light cheesecake? Absolutely, here it is.  But you don't have to believe me. The proof is in the ....umm... cheesecake!
  • Dark Chocolate Coconut Mini-Cheesecakes with Pomegranate Syrup - Alright for those of you who felt the previous cheesecake recipe was not enough of a challenge, I'm bringing it on!  A warning though, this one will take a little more time and effort then the others.  This multi-flavoured uber cheesecake creation is too fashionable (and tasty) to be passed by at the table.

Well I hope that provides some great inspiration for you... if not, there's certainly much more to peruse on the website.

Now, I can't promise how often these foodie recipe newsletters will be sent (whenever I actually sit down long enough to work through the ever-growing pile of recipes!)... I can however promise that there will be more!  And please don't hold back if you have lovely recipes you'd like to share, feel free to send them over for me to try (thank you to those who have already!).

And, hmmm, I have a feeling that there may be a Saigon flair to the next batch of recipe updates.

Wishing you all delicious adventures !

Cheers,
Natia
