A surprise to us all, there was ice to use at this year's ice floe race near Peterborough.
Here you see the OUC (Ontario Underwater Club, the organizers of the event) volunteers cutting the ice into floes for the race.
And here they are doing their best to make sure the cut pieces don't float away.
It's an invasion of sea monkeys... must be a friendly invasion since they are all smiling!
Brian, Sue and Dad showing their pearly whites ;c)
Nancy with her killer sea monkey cape is definitely ready to jump into that mid-March water! Brrr!
Larry's looking to give the team an edge by searching out a smaller ice floe.
Eric jumped into a dry suit for the first time to help the team along.
Sea Monkeys going in "cold turkey". Brian waving us in "C'mon, the water's...wet!"
This Diva of the Deep doesn't seem to be minding the cool water too much.
10-4 Larry!... I can see you're feeling very patriotic here, a loyal sea monkey!
John and his antennae mohawk both looking very cool!
Here's the lineup! Everyone giving a nice smile... or is that teeth gritting from all the exercise. 40 minutes of kicking will certainly do that to you!
Sea Monkeys even looked great from behind - thanks to Brian's fantastic design on the sea monkey capes!
A competing team - and their technique. Was this the team that went out to the gym weekly to prepare for this event??
These guys brought a keg of beer with them just in case they got thirsty along the way.
A beautiful picture of cheerleader/volunteer sea monkey Nancy!
Here's the before shot of the team.
And here they are afterwards. It's like the water unleashes some kind of craziness within them. Hmmm... "just add water"???
Sea monkeys tried to moon the other teams here, but they forgot they were still all suited up in their dry suits.
The official sea monkey signal - one leg up and three fingers displaying antennae.
