And great views looking down right off the ledge too!
We climbed up (and then back down) these chains for a portion of the trail. It was very exhilirating!
Eric is pointing to where we ended up on the mountain. (Or perhaps he was pointing to the rapellers on the mountainside, also very popular here in BC).
Interesting statues on the side of a busy downtown Vancouver street.
A walk through stanley park passes flocks of resting Canadian Geese, which Canada's signature bird (other than the loon, which are much harder to come by these days, but make a much more beautiful sound!)
As Stanley Park is located right on the waterfront, we enjoyed looking at huge boats cruising through (this one looks like an oil freighter).
And in the distance, a bright yellow sulfur plant... this stuff is so bright you it seems to look odd in this landscape.
Here I am just taking a break on the muddy and rocky waterfront.
In the centre of the park, lies... or rather stands... a series of totem poles from West native Canadian tribes.
Close-up shots of some of these beautifully carved totem poles. I really enjoy looking at the styles how the artists depicted the various animal spirits.
Here's another one, completely different from the others.
Here I am in a "kid's dryer", just outside of a kid's waterpark in Stanley Park. I have never seen this kind of technology before... what could I do to get this installed in my bathroom? ;c)
Interesting leaning tree trunks... hey, I thought it was worth a picture!
Still in the park, there's a statue of a scuba diver on this rock looking off in the distance. I think it's waiting for the tide to come it!
A closeup of the statue.
Another interesting work of art in the park -- looked like a giant canon with colourful dragons painted around it.
I love visiting Vancouver as it has lots of great trendy stores, delicious asian food (like a floating sushi restaurant! See my restaurant reviews of Vancouver in the Food section), interesting places to visit...
... and very odd hedges in the area of town near Jericho Beach... they are everywhere...
.... I just don't get it. Look at this huge one! Are we trying to build castles here starting with the hedges?? You can barely see the house anymore!
Along our promenade in the streets of Vancouver, we fell upon these beautiful leaves... they look like lilly pads out of the water!
