Not far from the slab of tundra rock and the fountain, lie a series of trees planted in half donut-shaped (or bagel if you are from Montreal) cement sidewalk ornaments. Also, bright blue lights shine at night from the pillars located between the donuts. It makes for a pretty interesting site... for no more than a minute. But it's something to see, nevertheless.
More artsy stuff in the Yorkville area... and the prices in the surrounding boutiques of the area reflect the upscale sense that you get from all this art!
Halloween!!! A popular North American celebration on Oct 31, where kids dress up and go door to door asking for candies... and they get them!!
Many people think it's just for kids but...Old folk like me who are kids at heart love getting dressed up too in all sorts of costumes and celebrating the holiday together.
I'll admit that the theme of death is a little overriding though... but armed with a beer, it's all in good fun!
Yeah, halloween is my excuse to wear an afro !!
Even some people dress up at work!! I love that spirit!
2-3 hours' drive from Toronto is a great small town called St Jacobs which has great food markets. This is the longest sausage round I have ever seen !
St. Jacobs has an interesting community of menonites, which are people who live in a very traditional lifestyle without much technology -- like the pioneers did.
In St. Jacobs, you regularly see horse chariots parked at the local grocery store.
Here is a close-up.
...Or on the road.
Their style of dress is also very traditional.
This is a furniture auction that we just happen to pass by.
Another horse carriage that we passed on the main road.
