Ah Quebec... a polarizing place, you either love it or hate it! Either way, it will get to you. Personally, I love it!!
The people are fun-loving passionate partiers and know style when they see it (Montreal for instance may look down upon gym pants worn downtown - be warned!). It helps too if you speak French (most places are French only, except for Montreal, which is fluently bilingual)... then again, it might not help to speak French as the Quebecois dialect is so different from the European French. Either way, it will be fun trying, and the effort will be appreciated most of the time!
TOP THINGS TO DO/SEE IN QUEBEC
Quebec City and Montreal offer lots for the traveller to see and discover. These are two cities that should be on your do not miss list for Canada!
Drive through Quebec -- you'll see lots of really colourful houses and meet friendly French folk.
Go camping -- Canada's got tons of camping sites to spare!
Visit Montreal to see the cobblestone, Euro historic streets of old Montreal. Montreal is also the best place to go for entertainment, great food, nightlife, crazy people... though Toronto and Vancouver are not too bad in this camp too!
Great Festivals : Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival (July/August), Montreal and Toronto's Jazz Festivals (July/August), Quebec City's Winter Carnival (February)
LOCAL CUISINE
Tourtiere (Quebec Meat Pie)
Maple Syrup and Maple Butter
French Canadian Breakfast: Pancakes, Potato Wedges, Sausages or Bacon, and Beans (all smothered in Maple Syrup - this is Quebecer-style!)
Sheppard's Pie (in French interestingly enough, we call it "Pate Chinois", Chinese pate... go figure!)
Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich and Baked Bagels -- the best in the country!!
