A view of overhead from within the jungle... I just had to capture it!
Cool tree trunks... all above or near ground because that is where the plant's nutrients are in rainforests.
Hence many of the roots are wide and surround the trees.
It took us a while to see what we were looking at - this camouflage coloured bug!
Ant nest in a tree...with ants crawling all over it. You can put your hand on this nest, have the ants crawl all over you, wipe them off (without killing them) and that gives you a natural bug repellent (and these ones don't bite you!)!
Blue and red poison dart frog! So cute!
It is really tiny! Don't ask me why he let it on his hand though.
Wolf spider... moves fast and bites. This is one fellow that you don't play with!
Six horned spider... with bright colours and six horns on its back.
We went to the local marketplace for a peek.
The usual raw meat stands...
...and guys/gals walking around selling everything from belts to kitchenware.
A jungle pharmacy. Just ask for anything you want.
Many people still pan for gold in the amazon rivers (though they rarely find anything more than gold powder)... so that is a payment method that is used quite typically.
You can buy a shotgun for $15 and a machete for $3.75 there!
I liked this variation on toothpaste... but didn't find a Ms. Fresh or Ms. Cool.
Tasting the cacao plant's fruit... this lady looked like she wasn't sure if she would survive it!
This is where the cacao seeds are dried and sunbaked for the making of delicious Yachana Chocolate (only available in 2003 in Western U.S.A.)
