The Turkish Gellert Thermal Baths.... hmmm... great for a weary backpacker... mostly, the thermal baths are really big same sex jacuzzis. A huge Co-Ed indoor pool (with a beautiful skylight) was also part of the complex.
Here is the rooftop of Matyas Church on the Buda side of BudaPest. The paprika-coloured church is unique in its exterior and interior presence across the numerous churches in Europe.
...and here is the inside of the Church.
Fishermen's bastion. In the closest arch, one can see the Hungarian Parliamentary building on the rivershore.
Here is a picture of the cave church -- it really shocked me. I had never seen such a thing before, though my mother tells me that cave churches are pretty common in certain areas of the world such as Turkey.
... Here is another shot of the cave church.
Hark, a salamander! I never expected to see so many -- or even just one -- in BudaPest of all places. Anyway, these little guys were pretty cute.
I think this picture speaks for itself... I found these guys inside one of the tourist shops.
This is a picture of a traditional Hungarian barn in the Skanzan, in Szentendre.
Again in the Skanzan, here is an old Hungarian wind mill.
The traditional picture of drying paprika hanging from the exterior of village house was a common sight in Hungary. Today, this sight will much more likely be on Tourist Shops, such as this one.
A picture of the castle and some of the town in Eger, Western Hungary.
A view of Eger from the castle grounds.
Eger's very large cathedral -- beautiful and yellow. I found quite a few yellow coloured buildings in Eger. Hmmm.
The purpose of this picture is to highlight the basket held by the woman's hand. I couldn't believe how popular these baskets are in Eastern Europe -- people carry them everywhere!
Feeling as if you are "stuck in the 70s" is a common experience in Eastern European hotels! I loved it, of course!
I had to take a picture of this when I saw it. It reminds me of how prude Canadian advertising is compared to Eastern Europe. What great advertising!
Ahhh... this is what I think of when I think of Europe... cobblestoned streets with beautiful buildings just in the horizon!
St. Stephen's Basilica... an incredibly massive church in the heart of Pest.
The church's best feature... it's equally massive entrance. Can we say, intimidating!? Wow!
Hungarian Parliamentary Buildings - Impressive too!
