Here I am in one of the famous London Red Phone Booths!
Big Ben is really impressive! But these tough guys won't let you in to see it up close.
I found this site very interesting because a building built with this much cement is so completely different from the typical stone European building.
The Tower bridge (not to be confused with the Tower of London)... is one of the most beautiful and picturesque bridges that I have ever seen. You can climb the towers if you want too, for a pretty penny.
This is the coolest subway logo and name that I have ever seen (that's probably because I don't live in England).
Ah, the ghastly London Dungeon... nice presentation, could not have done it better myself...
These two cement gatekeepers are pretty daunting to some too...
You can even have your picture taken next to these two fellows to prove you were there! ;c) Inside, you can also take part in the olde-syle judiciary court process, and learn about Jack the Ripper.
The dungeon even posts this an actual list of activities they would throw you in the dungeon and torture you for.. eg. "Persuading troops to mutiny", "Joining a mutiny", "leaving a commandering officer to go plundering", "sheep stealin", "stealing the King's venison", "unnatural crimes with animals"... and other shameless activities.
St.Paul's Cathedral.
Fleet Street, the London Exchange, and the English Monetary Museum.
Covent Gardens...
...and the entertaining buskers. Loads of fun to listen to and take a break!
A postcard from Sherlock Holmes' museum.
Wow, we even met Sherlock Holmes himself on the street next to the museum. ;c) What a coincidence! (I tried to get his help to find my friend's lost camera, but he was not much help).
Buckingham Palace... again, pretty boring, worth a couple of minutes to see the outside of the palace... but that's it.
Westminister Abbey.
The Hippodrome.. a famous club in the middle of downtown London (in Picadilly).
Bars, spilling out in the streets, where drinking in the middle of the street is absolutely legal in London! (In Canada, they just keep stuffing people in the same little space hoping to raise sales)... well, at least Canadian bars are open later than 11pm (even though their dancing clubs are open later).
Dead man's hole next to the Tower of London, where they threw out the bodies of tortured prisoners from the dungeon.
This is written on the ground as you get on and off the subway/metro/underground.
Again, another funny sign that brings me (me?) back to the 60s hippies... I don't think this guy liked me taking his picture though. He's probably thinking "Sod off, you stupid Canadian tourist!" ;c)
