Dining in the Dark with my lovely friend from KL, Azreena!
You walk into a pitch black dark room guided by blind waiters and eat a degustation meal in complete darkness. The waiters were lovely and made click noises with their mouthes as they walked around with food to advise the other waiters of their whereabouts.
My takeaways...
- you use your other senses (smell, touch) to work out what you’re eating,
- eating salad was surprisingly tricky,
- my sense of identification for desserts is fairly spot on 😂 at least for the ones I got, and
- it’s great to enjoy conversation with your friend without having to worry about body language. It was a nice way to relax actually. Very surreal way to have a conversation!
The experiences gives you an appreciation of what it is like to enjoy a meal for over an hour while not being able to see.
