The scenery on the bus trip over to Byron Bay, North of Sydney, was full of cut rocky cliffs.
When you arrive at Byron Bay, there's a group of hostel reps trying to solicit some business at the bus stop.
One of the stops near Byron Bay was the Giant Shrimp.
Giant statues of animals and such seem to be very popular across Australia.
In Byron Bay, the central tourist spot other than the beach and then diving is the town's lighthouse.
The lighthouse is situated at the top of a big hill.
From which you can see the little outcropping that makes the popular dive site Julian Rocks.
Dangerous-looking steep rocky cliffs surround it.
There's a nice trail from the lighthouse that leads to cool outlook.
Facing away from the water, this is also another view from the lighthouse.
Back in town, the beach is right next to the city centre.
The fellow on the bottom right was busying himself placing precariously balanced stones on boulders.
Niah, who was helping out at the Byron Bay Dive Centre, was a great friend during my stay.
Rense, endearingly called Ramstein by Niah, was also a lot of fun.
Rense is having a good laugh with me on how small the beer bottles are here.
