A glowing pelican basking in the sun at the Sydney Taronga Zoo.
Another huge pelican -- these guys can be as big as a meter across.
Sydney has lots of ducks just like in Canada, but some of them have bright blue beaks! It reminds me of the blue-footed boobie birds of the galapagos (see Ecuador Galapagos pics).
This well-fed individual is a wallabie... looks a lot like a kangaroo but is a little smaller.
Many australian native animals are from the marsupial family.
I think this is a wallabie too.
This is an echidna -- sort of like a hedgehog or a porcupine.
Take a look at the video (see link below) to see them waddling about.
This cute little sleepy fella is a wombat... another type of marsupial/rodent animal native to Australia.
Night creatures abound in Australia too.
The australian wild dog... the Dingo is ever alert just like its domestic cousins.
For those who wanted pics of the koala bear, I've got a series for you. This one is sleeping (as they often do) in the branches of the eucalyptus tree.
Someone's looking for dinner. Look at those powerful hands.
This picture reminds me of all those kids' teddy bears I have often seen in toy stores.
Reaching for his favourite and only food... eucalyptus leaves.
