Ahhhh... a beautiful sunset along the sandy beach right next to my (all expenses paid - woohoo!) hotel.
From the city of San Juan... it's quite a stroll to the fortress, Castillo San Felipo del Morro.
A view of a cemetary (I think) in the foreground and San Juan in the background -- all from the fortress.
A shot of the fortress -- alright, I'm getting artsy again!
The ocean-facing wall of the fortress.
This is very typical in southern countries of america - pastel-coloured houses. It's not my favourite colour.
Notice the iron rods covering the windows.
Walking around on the streets of downtown San Juan, we came accross this disturbing sight... stuffed animals hunged (by a noose at times) from the walls and windows across this entire building. We're still not sure what it is about.
Close to the animals, we saw these murals... which may look inspiring to non-spanish speaking folk, but as you read my translation below of the left mural for you, you'll see it's rather the opposite;
"Don't fall in love with life, as death is sure to happen."
Frankly, I'm of the opposite camp.
Ahhh, my kind of convenience store... it carries all varieties of alcohol that you would ever need. This is more convenient for party planners, who in Canada have to go to two different places to buy chips and drinks. ;c)
Here are the jumbo shrimps that I became enamoured with in Puerto Rico. Just compare its size to the fork on the left!
The view from my resort (we had to stay in a resort because these are the only type of hotels in the near vicinity to the plant.
They even hired a swan to float around in its man-made ponds! ;c)
Ok, last one I promise!!
In touring the Rio de Camuy caverns, here is one of the cavern mouths engrossed in moss and showing off its stalacmite teeths.
A picture from within the caves.
Another view from within and below.
It was beautiful to see the sunrays shine in.
Yet another.
And another. Last one.
I liked this statue very much - it is very typically latin american. Though I'm not sure what materials were used in making this statue (concrete?).
