Here I am in all my luminescent and tentaculor glory of being a blue bottle jellyfish.
A profile shot of the lampshade costume.
Jeremy and I. Funny that we both had the water theme.
The courtyard was a great place to cool off when it got too hot inside.
Of course, you can't keep a samba frog quiet for long. Eager to play, we brought out the drum and rolled out a thunderous performance. Two tamborim drums (Paul and myself), two surdos (Esoozie and Vas), Rapinique (Ty) and Timbal (Jean).
Being with my friends, my boyfriend and playing my drum with the band was the best way to celebrate my one year here.
Lots of silliness while playing. The samba frogs know how to have fun. I still can't believe that none of the neighbours called the cops on us. We're not a quiet bunch.
The rest of the sambe frog crew. Snare (Geoff), Shakers (Urara), Agogo Bells (Gab), and another Tambourim player (Ana). Stuart (also a tambourim player) arrived later to join in for the performance.
After the official samba drumming performance, we eased into a good rhythm of improv drumming. Stuart brought out his congas and, backed up by Vas and Paul here, they kept the party grooving.
We even had some guest performances during the improv session with Ange playing the little djembe and complementary beats from spoons and empty beer bottles.
We had a blast with this party... and are already looking forward to planning the next one !
