Harlequin Shrimps are a pretty rare and special find in Hawaii.
They are so very colourful.
This turtle was highly curious...it even surprised me.
It came right up towards me and almost hit me in the face.
After that, it moved on to other divers behind me and actually bumped into them.
This diver tried to aggressively feed the turtle seashells (duh!) and then grabbed hold of the turtle to try and see if it could pull him. I told him off underwater accordingly for doing that. Turtles can actually drown that way from the combination of overexertion and not being able to get to the surface in time for more air.
Hawaii having been a large US military base during the WorldWars and somewhat still now, there are lots of shells that have been dumped in the water (many of them still loaded, so picking them up or playing with them is highly discouraged)
An airplane wreck... sunk on purpose to promote tourism in 1984.
Lava tubes are very similar to cavern swimthroughs that are very popular in many other diving locations across the world. The only difference is that the surrounding rock is volcanic rock.
The dive master was especially good at making "O" dive bubbles.
Captain Bruce is the dive charter boat that we dove with. It took us to dive sites across the west shore of Oahu.
