The Rideau Canal in Ottawa -- You can skate on it in the wintertime!!
Here are few silly friends of mine standing on one of the many statuesque military vehicles in Ottawa.
The National Art Gallery in Ottawa. Cool looking building!
Here I am, as a very patriotic citizen... with a sticker of our national emblem (other than the hockey stick) the Canadian Maple Leaf, for Canada Day on July 1st.
The parliament building is in the background... though most will find this bronze busker more interesting. ;c)
Are we outside? No!
This is one of the rooms inside the Museum of Civilisation in Ottawa -- it goes from night to day, dusk to dawn and back in the space of a few minutes... merely one of the elements of this museum making it worth the drive to Ottawa to stop for a visit!
Here I am skating on the Ottawa Rideau Canal. Though nearing the end of the winter at the end of February, the ice was still somewhat skateable. Plus, we were able to enjoy one of our favourite Canadian treats -- Beavertail donuts with sugar, cinnamon and lemon !! Yum!
Eric and I on one of our roadtrips. In this trip, we stopped at this classic Firehall Restaurant... with a great big loud sign over this firetruck...
...and lots to see inside, like this old style fire extinguisher. Pretty neat!
Ontario provincial parks in the evening in October... was a pleasant sight / site!
Building snowmen, A popular Canadian past time. Since we have ALL that snow, we might as well do something with it! Here is Eric's Dad with his two grandsons, Connor and Ryan. So cute!
This place is called the Badlands of Ontario (see Alberta pictures, they have badlands too!).
This is just a series of hills that constrasts directly with the surrounding forests. The earth is a bright orange/red colour, apart from this stripe of grey dust, which may very well be clay.
Still, it's just great to walk around and enjoy it for the beauty and uniqueness it presents you!
The Big Nickel in Sudbury... other than Science North (a science-based museum), there's not much else to see in Sudbury.
Just to give you a little perspective on how BIG the Big Nickel is. It's pretty big!
This was a surprising sign... I felt like I just arrived in the Arctic. Well... we did go all the way to Timmins! ;c) (Uh-oh, I'm going to get in trouble for that!)
Welcome to Yorkville, Toronto, one of the most posh neighbourhood in downtown Toronto. Here you will see that a slab of Tundra (northern Canadian) Rock has been placed in the middle of the sidewalk for people to sit and sunbathe on during the summer, if not just to pause curiously at.
Along the left side of the picture, there is an artsy very vertical fountain which glows at night. I don't know how else to describe it. You'll just have to see it!!
Not far from the slab of tundra rock and the fountain, lie a series of trees planted in half donut-shaped (or bagel if you are from Montreal) cement sidewalk ornaments. Also, bright blue lights shine at night from the pillars located between the donuts. It makes for a pretty interesting site... for no more than a minute. But it's something to see, nevertheless.
More artsy stuff in the Yorkville area... and the prices in the surrounding boutiques of the area reflect the upscale sense that you get from all this art!
Halloween!!! A popular North American celebration on Oct 31, where kids dress up and go door to door asking for candies... and they get them!!
