Cairns was a little odd. The extravagant pool next the waterfront boardwalk. It looked especially odd with the sea at low tide.

Then from Cairns we took a great train ride to Kuranda.
Lovely views from the train.
One view in particular was GORGE-ous... no pun intended.
This is the last train in Queensland, even Australia perhaps, that had this old fashioned switchback mechanism to change the tracks directions.
