Many houses in Swizterland have beautiful designs painted right on the front of the building. It makes for an interesting walk through the village.
Here is another one.
The weeping (though really dying) lion -- carved right into the stone wall to commemorate the soldiers who had died in a historic war against France.
One of the churches I decided to walk into was having a choral practice -- Being from Canada (and a non-practising Christian), I had never heard how beautiful the sound of a choir in a church was.
The Tingelay fountain -- with all sorts of gadgets and gizmos that move here and there, playing with the water. Very entertaining. (Basel)
Another view of the Tingelay Fountain.
I believe this is a parliamentary building in Basel. I was quite fond of it's bright red colour. In the middle of it (on the outside), there is an interesting piece of clockwork that moves around every hour. Worth a look.
I love these towers - they just seem to come out of nowhere. I think this is from Basel as well.
This other structure in Basel is interesting, with its brick facade. I'm not quite sure of its purpose, but it made an interesting shot.
Take a look at the sign, this is a pissing area for men who just can't wait. ;c)
I love this HUGE mechanical work of art, which busies itself hammering all day. (Basel)
The lady from Swiss coins is captured here in metal taking a break (with her cape and armour set aside) on Basel's main bridge.
The Munster -- an impressive church, with interesting gargoyles and exterior designs.
This Basel Church (Munster) also has a beautiful interior.
Here is a scenic shot of basel. Economically, the city is home of Novartis-Geigy, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. We went on a tour of the facilities, but little did I know that I would soon be working for one of their competitors (I should have taken notes!!) ;c)
You can locate the pharmaceutical plants by the chimneys on both sides of the river.
Chateau de Chillon, a fortress near Montreux in the French part of Switzerland. You can walk through the extensive castle -- there is lots to see.
Another angle of the fortress.
Here is my friend Germaine, who went travelling with me across the various towns of Switzerland. At this point, we are next to one of the typical wooden bridges in a small town named Fribourg.
H.R. Giger, who designed the creatures in "Aliens", has a museum in Gruyere. Worth a look - but may disturb your day. He is very strange -- and seems to have issues with women.
Here is a less offensive creature -- the one arm, one leg motocycle rider. Hmmm. Best not to ask. ;C)
